You can sign up with email or using Google/GitHub SSO. 2. 2 #### Analyze your domain Once logged in, you'll enter your website's domain name (e.g., `example.com`). Our AI engine will instantly scan your site and automatically pre-populate the best settings for your workspace, including: - Your primary language and target region - Your specific industry niche - A detailed brand description - Your top 5 market competitors - Your website's primary theme colors 3. 3 #### Select your plan Choose the growth plan that best fits your needs to complete the automated onboarding process. 4. 4 #### Review your generated articles Once you reach the dashboard, SiteLift will have already started generating a tailored content plan and drafting your first highly-optimized articles. You can use our built-in rich text editor to review these articles, tweak the content, or adjust the AI-generated images before they ever go live. 5. 5 #### Connect your CMS & Publish To get your approved content live, simply connect SiteLift to your website. We support several native integrations for instant syncing: [SiteLift Hosted](/docs/integrations/hosted)[WordPress](/docs/integrations/wordpress)[Shopify](/docs/integrations/shopify)[Webflow](/docs/integrations/webflow)[Next.js & Custom API](/docs/integrations/nextjs-blog) ## Frequently Asked Questions No! If you use WordPress or Shopify, setup takes just a few clicks using our official plugins/apps. Custom setups (like Next.js) require some developer knowledge. Yes. By default, SiteLift auto-publishes to save you time. However, you can change your settings to publish as "Draft" so you can review them in your CMS first. A standard article takes about 3-5 minutes to generate due to the extensive research, drafting, and optimization pipeline. [ Previous Welcome ](/docs)[ Next Content Planner ](/docs/content-planner) --- ## Content Planner Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/content-planner # Content Planner Take command of your SEO strategy before a single word is written. The Content Planner gives you a bird's-eye view of your entire month's publishing schedule. ## Your Monthly Plan Once you are fully subscribed (meaning your plan is activated and you are no longer in a trial phase), SiteLift automatically generates a comprehensive content plan for the entire month. This plan outlines the exact titles, target keywords, and scheduled generation dates for every article. Note **Note on Trials:**You can end your trial early from the Settings page at any time to instantly unlock and generate your full month's content plan. ## Interactive Views The Content Planner provides two interactive ways to visualize your monthly strategy: 📅 ### Calendar View A visual monthly calendar layout. Great for understanding your publishing cadence and seeing exactly which days articles will go live. 📋 ### Table View A dense list view displaying the target keyword, word count, and precise status of each plan. Perfect for bulk review and tracking generation progress. ## Customizing Before Generation The true power of the Content Planner lies in the ability to steer the AI _before_ it starts writing. From the planner interface, you can open any planned article to view its details (Target Keyword, Word Count, Secondary Keywords) and add specific guidance: 🖼️ #### User Assets Upload specific images (PNG, JPG, WEBP) you want included in the final article. These images are pre-attached to the AI's generation context. ✍️ #### Special Instructions Provide direct, highly-impactful guidelines for the AI to follow when drafting that specific article. ### Mastering Special Instructions Special instructions are powerful context injections. They heavily influence the narrative, structure, and focus of the generated article. You must be careful and precise here. #### ✓ Best Practices - • Mention a specific product feature to highlight. - • Specify a particular target audience (e.g., "Write for enterprise CTOs"). - • Provide a unique viewpoint or contrarian take you want the article to argue. #### ✕ What to Avoid - • Don't stuff raw keywords (the AI already handles SEO optimization). - • Don't provide contradictory instructions that confuse the narrative. - • Don't write full paragraphs; keep it concise and directive. ## Language & Location Lock Warning Once a content plan is generated for the current month, the **Language** and **Target Location** for those specific articles are firmly locked in. If you go into your General Settings and change your target language or location in the middle of a billing cycle, those changes will **only take effect starting from the next month's generated content plan**. [ Previous Getting Started ](/docs/getting-started)[ Next Article Management ](/docs/article-management) --- ## Article Management Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/article-management # Article Management While SiteLift is fully autonomous, you maintain complete control over the final output. Use our built-in Notion-style editor to review and tweak content before it goes live. While SiteLift is fully autonomous, you maintain complete control over the final output. Once an article is generated, you can refine it using our powerful suite of management tools. ## Notion-Style In-Place Editing When you click on any article in your project dashboard, you will be taken to our Rich Text Editor. This editor supports a seamless, Notion-style experience. - **Full Control:** Edit the article title, body content, and formatting directly in-place. - **Rich Formatting:** Insert links, format text, and structure your headings just like you would in a modern document editor. ## Article Image Library Every single article comes with its own dedicated image library. SiteLift automatically generates and places contextually relevant images within your articles. If you want to swap an image, simply **click on any image in the editor**. The article's specific image library will pop up, allowing you to instantly replace the current image with another AI-generated option from the gallery or upload your own custom image. ## Website Screenshots To build trust and provide visual context in your articles, SiteLift can reference screenshots of your actual website. Navigate to the **Settings > General**page of your dashboard to upload a high-quality screenshot of your site. Don't have one? You can use our built-in **Retake** button to have our system automatically capture a fresh screenshot of your homepage. ## Publishing & Restrictions **Editing after publishing:** A published article stays editable in SiteLift. Save your changes as usual, then click **Republish changes** to update the live post. The existing post is updated in place, so its URL, comments, and search rankings are untouched. - **WordPress, Webflow, Shopify:** the same post or item is updated. A new one is never created. - **Webhooks:** your endpoint receives an `article.updated` event with the full article, instead of `article.published`. - **Next.js and Custom API:** your site reads articles from SiteLift, so a save is enough. The change shows once your site refreshes its cache. - **SiteLift Hosted:** a save goes live immediately. Warning **Republishing replaces the CMS copy.** If you edited the post directly in WordPress, Webflow, or Shopify, those edits are overwritten the next time you republish from SiteLift. Keep the SiteLift editor as the single place you edit a SiteLift article. **Unpublishing:** SiteLift never removes an article from your site. To take a live article down, set it to draft or delete it inside your CMS. **URL Slugs:** The URL slug for an article is generated automatically and is **permanently fixed**. Slugs cannot be edited, even when you republish. This guarantees that internal links and external distribution links never break. **Auto-Publishing:** You can configure Auto-Publishing in your settings. SiteLift will automatically push approved articles to your connected CMS at your desired scheduled time, completely hands-free. ## Exporting Content Need to use the content elsewhere? You can easily export any article's content directly from the dashboard in either **Markdown (MD)** or raw **HTML** format with a single click. [ Previous Content Planner ](/docs/content-planner)[ Next Content Quality ](/docs/content-quality) --- ## Content Quality Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/content-quality # Content Quality SiteLift does not just string words together. We utilize a multi-layered, premium editorial engine to guarantee your content is authoritative, deeply researched, and primed for the top of the search results. ## Human-Level Authority To rank in today’s competitive ecosystem, content must demonstrate Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T). SiteLift’s advanced models synthesize massive amounts of web data to produce insights that read like they were written by an industry veteran, completely avoiding the generic "AI tone". ## GEO & AEO Optimized Traditional SEO is no longer enough. Sitelift automatically optimizes every piece of content for **Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)** and **AI Engine Optimization (AEO)**. #### 1Structured Formatting Perfect use of H2s, H3s, bullet points, and tables to make parsing easy for LLM crawlers. #### 2Rich Schema We inject deep JSON-LD metadata directly into the payload, ensuring search engines instantly grasp the context. #### 3Conversational Content is formulated to directly answer the exact conversational queries users pose to AI assistants. ## Deep Research & Integrity Before a single word is drafted, SiteLift maps out the competitive landscape. We evaluate top-ranking pages to understand the search intent and identify content gaps. The final product is a comprehensive, highly accurate resource that naturally earns engagement and trust from both readers and search algorithms. [ Previous Article Management ](/docs/article-management)[ Next Prompting Guide ](/docs/prompting-guide) --- ## Prompting Guide Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/prompting-guide # Brand Visibility Prompts SiteLift lets you configure a set of strategic prompts (5 on Starter, 15 on Growth). We type each one into the real ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overview from your target country and language to monitor how often and how accurately your brand is recommended. ## Why Prompts Matter Unlike traditional SEO where you track keywords, AEO (AI Engine Optimization) requires tracking _conversational prompts_. We simulate user interactions to see if these models recommend your brand in their answers. Note **Limit:** You can set up to 5 active visibility prompts per project. We recommend covering your main value propositions and competitor comparisons. ## Prompt Categories When you create a prompt in the dashboard, you will assign it to a category. This helps our analytics group the data: #### Discovery How users find products in your niche. "What are the best tools for SEO automation?" #### Comparison How you stack up against alternatives. "How does SiteLift compare to traditional SEO agencies?" #### Problem Solving When users ask for solutions. "How can I scale my content distribution strategy?" #### Direct Brand When users ask about you specifically. "What is SiteLift and how does it work?" ## Best Practices for Writing Prompts ### ✓Do: Keep it Conversational Write prompts exactly how your target audience would ask an AI chatbot. Example: "What is the best CRM software for a real estate agent with a small team?" ### ✕Don't: Use Keyword Stuffing AI engines do not respond to lists of keywords like traditional search engines do. Example: "best CRM real estate small team cheap" ## Viewing the Results SiteLift pings these models periodically using your defined prompts. You can view the results in the **Brand Visibility** tab of your project dashboard. The dashboard will show: % #### Mention Rate How often your brand was included in the response across all checked AI engines. ★ #### Sentiment Score The context in which your brand was mentioned (Positive, Neutral, Negative). VS #### Competitor Mentions Who else was recommended alongside you, helping you understand your competitive landscape in AI search. [ Previous Content Quality ](/docs/content-quality)[ Next Distribution Network ](/docs/distribution-network) --- ## Distribution Network Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/distribution-network # Premium Distribution Network Great content needs visibility. SiteLift leverages an exclusive premium distribution network to syndicate your content and build high-authority trust signals completely on autopilot. ## The Distribution Engine Securing visibility manually is time-consuming and expensive. When you publish content through SiteLift, our proprietary syndication engine goes to work immediately. We distribute your content across a curated web of high-DR (Domain Rating) platforms, establishing powerful incoming trust signals to your core domain. Tip You do not need to configure anything. Every article generated is automatically plugged into our syndication ecosystem. ## Strict Niche Relevance Search engines heavily penalize spammy or irrelevant syndication. Our network relies on strict algorithmic matching. Content is only distributed between highly relevant, contextually similar topics. This ensures that every placement pointing to your site acts as a genuine "vote of confidence." ## Monitoring Authority Growth As your domain accumulates these premium placements, you will see your overall authority metric rise in your SiteLift Dashboard. Our distribution framework focuses on three pillars: #### Velocity Controlled, natural drip-feeding of placements to mimic organic growth over time. #### Quality Placement exclusively on established, high-trust platforms with real traffic. #### Safety Fully white-hat distribution methods that comply strictly with search engine guidelines. [ Previous Prompting Guide ](/docs/prompting-guide)[ Next Competitor Pages ](/docs/competitor-pages) --- ## Competitor Pages Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/competitor-pages # Competitor Pages People searching "YourBrand vs Competitor" or "Competitor alternatives" are the closest to buying. Competitor Pages lets you own those searches with honest, fact-checked comparison pages on your own domain, generated in minutes and kept current without you lifting a finger. ## What You Get For every competitor you name, SiteLift builds a small cluster of pages that link to each other so search engines treat them as one authoritative topic. #### You vs Competitor A head-to-head page: at-a-glance table, feature-by-feature comparison, pricing, pros and cons, who each tool is for, an honest verdict and an FAQ. #### Competitor alternatives A ranked list of alternatives with you first, followed by the other tools people consider, each with a summary, pricing and where it beats the competitor. #### Your /compare/ hub One index page listing every published comparison, grouped by competitor, so readers and crawlers can find the whole cluster from one URL. Every page carries a featured image, comparison tables built from the structured facts, structured data for rich results, and a visible "facts verified" date. See it live on [SiteLift's own comparison hub](/compare). ## How It Works 1. 1 #### Name your competitors Open **Competitor Pages**in your dashboard and type the domains of the products people compare you with. SiteLift reads each competitor's public pricing, feature and about pages and builds a fact sheet for it, and one for your own site. 2. 2 #### Pages are written from the facts Both pages are generated one competitor at a time. The prose is written only from the verified fact sheets; the comparison tables, verdict box and FAQ are assembled from the same data, so nothing is invented. 3. 3 #### Review, then publish Nothing goes live on its own. Open any page in the editor, adjust what you like, then publish it, or publish everything at once. You can unpublish or push an update at any time. 4. 4 #### SiteLift keeps watching Every two weeks each competitor's site is re-read. When their pricing, plans or features change, your pages are rewritten from the new facts and you receive an email. Pages you edited by hand are flagged instead of overwritten. Tip Start with the three to five competitors that actually show up in your sales calls. Those are the searches with buying intent, and they are the pages that convert. ## Where the Pages Live Comparison pages publish through the same connection as your articles, but they are standalone pages, not blog posts. They sit under a URL prefix you choose, such as `/compare/`, with the hub at the prefix itself. - [SiteLift Hosted](/docs/integrations/hosted): the hub and every page appear automatically at your prefix, fully styled. - [WordPress](/docs/integrations/wordpress): pages are created as WordPress pages under a parent page named after your prefix, so the hub is the parent and each comparison is a child. Requires plugin version 1.2.0 or later. - [Webflow](/docs/integrations/webflow): on first publish SiteLift creates a "Comparisons" collection in your site. Style its collection page once in the Designer and add a page at your prefix with a Collection List to act as the hub. - [Shopify](/docs/integrations/shopify): each comparison becomes an Online Store page. - [Next.js](/docs/integrations/nextjs-blog): the SiteLift package scaffolds the hub, page and sitemap routes for you. - [Custom API](/docs/integrations/custom-api) and [Webhooks](/docs/integrations/webhooks): comparison pages are available as their own endpoints and events, separate from articles. The prefix locks after the first publish Pick your URL prefix in Competitor Pages → Settings before you publish anything. Once a page is live, the prefix cannot change, because moving indexed URLs would lose the rankings you are building. ## Plan Limits and Slots Each plan includes a number of tracked competitors: Starter includes 5 and Growth includes 10. The number shown in your dashboard is the one that applies to you. Generating a competitor's pages uses one slot for the current billing cycle. Removing a competitor unpublishes its pages, but its slot stays used until the cycle renews, so swapping competitors is something to plan rather than do on impulse. If you add more competitors than you have slots, the extra ones are scheduled and generate automatically when the next cycle begins. ## Editing and Updates #### Edit anything Pages open in the same editor as articles. Change the copy, then publish or push an update to the live page. #### Verified date Every page shows when its facts were last confirmed against the competitor's site, which readers and search engines both value. #### Facts changed? When a competitor changes and you had edited the page by hand, it is flagged. Choose "Rewrite from current facts" whenever you are ready. Note Publishing a page in the dashboard updates your live site. When a page is rewritten after a competitor change, you will see an "update available" state on the live page until you push it. ## Frequently Asked Questions Every claim comes from the competitor's own public website: their pricing, plans, features and integrations pages. Each page shows the date those facts were last verified, and SiteLift re-checks them on a schedule. If a competitor's site cannot be read, the page says so instead of guessing. The pages recommend you when the facts support it and say plainly when the other tool is the better fit for a given need. Readers and search engines both reward that honesty; a page that only praises you does not rank and does not convert. Yes. Every page opens in the same editor as your articles. Change anything, then publish. Pages you edited by hand are never rewritten automatically; if the competitor changes something, you get a flag and a one-click option to rewrite from the current facts. Its pages are unpublished from your site and the competitor is archived. The slot it used stays consumed until your billing cycle renews, at which point you can add a different competitor in its place. You can change it freely until the first comparison page is published. After that it is locked, because search engines have started indexing those URLs and moving them would cost you rankings. Comparison pages publish through the same connection as your articles: WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, SiteLift Hosted, Next.js, the Custom API and Webhooks are all supported. See the section on where pages live for the specifics of each. [Request an Integration](mailto:support@sitelift.io) --- ## MCP Server Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/integrations/mcp # MCP Server Run SiteLift from the AI assistant you already use. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code, Cursor and any other MCP client can read your performance, steer the content calendar and publish articles, with the same permissions you have in the dashboard. Note **Server URL:** `https://api.sitelift.io/mcp` (Streamable HTTP). Chat assistants sign in with your SiteLift account over OAuth. Coding agents send an API key. Manage both at [Settings → Developer → MCP](https://app.sitelift.io/dashboard/settings/mcp). ## What it is The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open standard AI assistants use to call tools in other products. SiteLift exposes 44 tools and 3 ready-made prompts over MCP, so instead of opening the dashboard you can ask things like "which of my articles sit on page two and deserve a refresh?", "does ChatGPT recommend us yet?" or "publish the pricing comparison" and let the assistant do the clicking. A connection acts as you: every site you own or are a member of, with your role on each. Tools go through the same access checks and plan entitlements as the dashboard, so an agent can never do something you could not do yourself. Tools that change your live site are flagged so the assistant confirms with you before calling them. ## What you can ask Reads Performance, calendar and articles, audits, AI visibility, keywords, backlinks, competitor pages, plan usage, team, support requests. Changes, after asking you Planned articles and their briefs, article edits and publishing, refreshes, site settings, competitors, AI prompts, audits, pull-based CMS connections, team invitations and roles, support requests. Never Billing, API keys, generating articles or keywords on demand, adding calendar topics, pausing a site, transferring ownership. Anything that needs a person goes through a support request instead. ### Built-in prompts Clients that list MCP prompts (Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and others) show three SiteLift workflows as slash commands: - `/weekly_report`: what changed this week across traffic, articles, refreshes and visibility. - `/quick_wins`: pages ranking just off page one, with the refresh or edit that would move them. - `/review_calendar`: walk the upcoming calendar and tighten briefs and priorities. ## Connect a chat assistant Chat assistants sign in with your SiteLift account. No key to copy: you approve the connection once on a SiteLift consent page and can disconnect it from the dashboard later. #### Claude claude.ai and the Claude desktop app 1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose "Add custom connector". 2. Name it SiteLift and paste https://api.sitelift.io/mcp as the remote MCP server URL, then click Add. 3. Click Connect. Claude sends you to SiteLift to approve access. #### ChatGPT custom connectors in ChatGPT 1. Open Settings → Connectors → Advanced and turn on Developer mode. 2. Click Create, name it SiteLift, paste https://api.sitelift.io/mcp as the MCP server URL and pick OAuth as the authentication. 3. Save. ChatGPT registers itself and sends you to SiteLift to approve access. #### Gemini Spark connected apps in the Gemini app 1. Open Gemini, switch to Spark and choose Connected apps. 2. Under "Custom apps for Spark", paste https://api.sitelift.io/mcp and click Next. 3. Sign in to SiteLift when Gemini asks, then turn the app on. ## Connect a coding agent 1. 1 #### Create an API key In the dashboard open **Settings → Developer → MCP** and click **Create API key**. The key starts with `slk_` and is shown once, so copy it straight away. You can hold up to 10 active keys and revoke any of them at any time. 2. 2 #### Add the server to your agent Register `https://api.sitelift.io/mcp` as a remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP and send the key as a Bearer token in the `Authorization` header. Ready-made snippets for each agent are below. 3. 3 #### Ask for your sites Start with "list my SiteLift sites". Every other tool takes a site id from that answer, and the agent picks the right one from your wording after that. Warning A key acts as you on every site you can access. Keep it out of shared config files and chat logs, and revoke it from the dashboard if it ever leaks. Keys only work on the MCP endpoint: they cannot create other keys, change billing or invite members. ### Claude Code Run once in your terminal, then type `/mcp` inside Claude Code to confirm SiteLift is connected. Without the header line, Claude Code signs in through the browser instead. Terminal ```bash claude mcp add --transport http sitelift https://api.sitelift.io/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer slk_your_api_key_here" ``` ### Codex CLI Export the key in your shell profile so Codex can read it, then add the server and restart Codex. ~/.codex/config.toml ```toml # in your shell profile: export SITELIFT_API_KEY=slk_your_api_key_here [mcp_servers.sitelift] url = "https://api.sitelift.io/mcp" bearer_token_env_var = "SITELIFT_API_KEY" ``` ### Gemini CLI ~/.gemini/settings.json ```json { "mcpServers": { "sitelift": { "httpUrl": "https://api.sitelift.io/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer slk_your_api_key_here" } } } } ``` ### Cursor Use `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project or `.cursor/mcp.json` inside one. Cursor Settings → MCP shows a green dot once the tools loaded. ~/.cursor/mcp.json ```json { "mcpServers": { "sitelift": { "url": "https://api.sitelift.io/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer slk_your_api_key_here" } } } } ``` ### VS Code Copilot agent mode reads `.vscode/mcp.json` in your workspace. Start the server from the MCP panel and the SiteLift tools appear in agent mode. .vscode/mcp.json ```json { "servers": { "sitelift": { "type": "http", "url": "https://api.sitelift.io/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer slk_your_api_key_here" } } } } ``` ### Any other client Windsurf, Zed, Hermes and custom agents all work the same way: add a remote MCP server at `https://api.sitelift.io/mcp` with transport **Streamable HTTP** and the header `Authorization: Bearer slk_your_api_key_here`. Clients that support OAuth discovery can sign in instead of sending a key. ## Tool reference You never call these by name; the assistant picks them from your request. We manage everything for you. ### Built-in SEO Pre-configured with fast page speeds, social cards, sitemaps, and search engine tags. ## How It Works SiteLift Hosted is the easiest way to publish an SEO blog without hiring developers or dealing with complex CMS software like WordPress. Once connected, your blog is live under your own web address (such as `blog.yourwebsite.com`). Whenever you approve or schedule articles in SiteLift, they appear automatically on your blog—complete with images, clear formatting, estimated reading times, and links pointing back to your main site. ## Why Use a Subdomain? SiteLift Hosted lives on a **subdomain** (like `blog.yourwebsite.com`). Here is why this is the safest and most effective approach for growing businesses: #### Keeps Your Main Website 100% Safe Because your blog is connected through your domain settings, there is no risk of breaking your main website, e-commerce store, or customer login area. #### Simple Setup Without Technical Help You only need to add one line of text in your domain provider's control panel. No coding, file uploads, or server setup required. #### Ultra-Fast Loading for Visitors Your blog pages load instantly on both mobile devices and desktops, keeping readers engaged and helping you rank higher on Google. ### Recommended Subdomain Names You can choose any name you like. Here are the most popular options: | Subdomain | Best For | Example | | --- | --- | --- | | blog.yourwebsite.com | **Recommended**. The classic choice that visitors and search engines recognize immediately. | blog.yourcompany.com | | insights.yourwebsite.com | Great for B2B brands, consultants, and agencies publishing industry expertise. | insights.yourcompany.com | | resources.yourwebsite.com | Ideal for software and product companies sharing how-to guides, tips, and templates. | resources.yourcompany.com | | news.yourwebsite.com | Best for company updates, press announcements, and industry trends. | news.yourcompany.com | | learn.yourwebsite.com | Perfect for academies, educational hubs, and tutorial libraries. | learn.yourcompany.com | ## Setup Guide 1. 1 #### Open Integrations in Your Dashboard Log in to your SiteLift account, go to **Settings > Integrations**, and find **SiteLift Hosted**. Click **Connect** to open the setup window. 2. 2 #### Choose Your Blog Address (Subdomain) Type the word you want in front of your domain (e.g. typing `blog` creates `blog.yourwebsite.com`). - Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only (no spaces). - Most businesses choose `blog`, `insights`, `resources`, or `news`. 3. 3 #### Add One Record in Your Domain Settings SiteLift will show you the exact record to add where you bought your domain (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, or Cloudflare): - **CNAME Record**: Points your blog address (e.g. `blog.yourwebsite.com`) to `cname.sitelift.io`. Copy and paste this into your domain provider's DNS manager. 4. 4 #### Confirm & You’re Live! Click **I have added the records**. SiteLift will automatically check your domain and set up a free, secure SSL padlock (https://). Within a few minutes, your blog is live and ready. Every article generated or scheduled in your plan publishes directly to your new blog. ## Domain Settings (DNS Record) In your domain account, create a new record using these details: text ```text Record Type: CNAME Host / Name: blog (or your chosen prefix) Points To: cname.sitelift.io TTL: Automatic (or 3600) ``` Tip If your domain uses **Cloudflare**, make sure the record proxy status is set to **DNS Only (Grey Cloud)** so your security certificate can verify smoothly. ## How SiteLift Hosted Boosts Your Main Website’s SEO A common question is: _"Will having my blog on a subdomain help my main website rank?"_ **Yes, absolutely.**Google and other search engines evaluate subdomains as part of your primary brand. SiteLift Hosted is engineered to directly lift your business's search presence: #### 1\. Builds Brand & Topic Authority Search engines see that your blog is directly connected to your brand. When connecting in the SiteLift dashboard, choose the method matching what you see in your store's **Settings > Apps** page: ## Method 1: Dev Dashboard (Standard Setup) This is the standard integration flow for all modern Shopify stores using Client ID and Client Secret authentication with automated token lifecycle management. 1. 1 #### Open Shopify Dev Dashboard In your Shopify Admin, navigate to **Settings > Apps** and click **Build apps in Dev Dashboard**. 2. 2 #### Create Your App Under **Start from Dev Dashboard**, enter the App name as `SiteLift` and click **Create**. 3. 3 #### Configure Scopes Under **Configuration > Scopes**, click **Select scopes**. - Search for and select **Store content** (`read_content` and `write_content`). - Click **Done** to save your selected scopes. 4. 4 #### Release the Version Click **Release** in the bottom right corner to publish your configuration. 5. 5 #### Install App on Your Store In the **Overview** section of your app, click **Install app** (top right) and confirm the authorization on your store. 6. 6 #### Copy Credentials into SiteLift Go to your app's **Settings** in the left sidebar. - Copy your **Client ID** and **Client Secret**. - In SiteLift Dashboard, navigate to **Project Settings > Integrations > Shopify**. - Enter your store domain (e.g. `your-store.myshopify.com`), Client ID, and Client Secret. - Click **Next**, select your publication blog, and complete the connection. Tip SiteLift automatically manages and refreshes access tokens in the background for Dev Dashboard connections, ensuring uninterrupted publishing. ## Method 2: Legacy Custom App If your store has access to Shopify's legacy custom apps feature, you can connect directly with a static Admin API access token. 1. 1 #### Create Legacy Custom App In your Shopify Admin, go to **Settings > Apps** and click **Create an app** (under _Legacy custom apps_). 2. 2 #### Configure Admin API Scopes Under **Configuration > Admin API integration**, select `read_content` and `write_content`. 3. 3 #### Install & Copy Token Go to **API credentials**, click **Install app**, and reveal your **Admin API access token** (starting with `shpat_`). - In SiteLift, select the **Legacy Token** option. - Enter your store domain and paste the `shpat_` access token. - Select your target blog and save. ## Selecting a Publication Blog Once your store credentials are validated, SiteLift will fetch the list of existing blogs from your Shopify store (e.g., "News" or "Blog"). Choose your preferred blog handle and confirm the connection. You can change this selection at any time from your Integration settings. ## Product & Collection Linking SiteLift's content engine automatically references and links your Shopify products and collections within the generated articles, funneling organic search visitors directly to your checkout flow. Ensure your products are indexed in SiteLift under the **Knowledge Base** tab. ## Troubleshooting Warning If you see the error _"The application is not installed on this shop"_, make sure you clicked the **Install app** button in the top right of your Dev Dashboard Overview screen to authorize the app on your store. If blogs fail to load during setup, double check that your store domain ends in `.myshopify.com` and that both `read_content` and `write_content` scopes are enabled. [ Previous Webflow ](/docs/integrations/webflow)[ Next Next.js Blog ](/docs/integrations/nextjs-blog) --- ## Next.js Blog Source: https://www.sitelift.io/docs/integrations/nextjs-blog # Next.js App Router Fetch and render SiteLift articles and competitor comparison pages as static pages in your Next.js 13+ App Router application using our official SDK. The official Next.js integration for SiteLift. Seamlessly connect your Next.js App Router project to your SiteLift dashboard and render lightning-fast, SEO-optimized blog articles and [competitor pages](/docs/competitor-pages)("Brand vs X" and "X alternatives") directly from the server. This package comes equipped with a lightweight, zero-dependency client and an intuitive CLI tool to scaffold a ready-to-use blog structure into your codebase within seconds. [View on npm](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@getsitelift/nextjs-blog) ## Quick Start Get up and running with the Next.js App Router integration in minutes. ### Installation Add the package to your project using npm, pnpm, or yarn: bash ```bash npm install @getsitelift/nextjs-blog ``` _(Note: Requires Node.js 18.17+ and a Next.js App Router setup)_ ### Configuration Locate your API key in the SiteLift dashboard (**Settings → Integrations → Next.js Blog**). Store the key securely in your `.env.local` file: .env.local ```bash SITELIFT_BLOG_API_KEY=your_api_key_here ``` Warning Keep your API key strictly on the server-side. Do not expose it to the client by prefixing it with `NEXT_PUBLIC_`. ### Scaffold (Recommended) Want to skip the manual setup? Use our built-in CLI to generate a clean, unstyled blog and competitor comparison section right inside your Next.js application. Run the following command at the root of your project: bash ```bash npx @getsitelift/nextjs-blog init ``` The command is interactive and asks: 1. **App directory**: auto-detects `src/app` or `app`. 2. **Scaffold the blog?** Default yes. Creates `app/blog`. 3. **Include competitor comparison pages?** Default yes. 4. **URL prefix for comparison pages**: default `compare`. This must match **Competitor Pages → Settings**in your SiteLift dashboard, because canonical URLs and the "See all comparisons" link inside each page are built from the dashboard value. Set the prefix in the dashboard first, then scaffold. Folders that already exist are left untouched, so re-running `init` on a project that already has a blog only adds the comparison pages. For scripts and CI use `--yes`, `--compare-path `, `--no-compare`, `--no-blog` and `--force`. _Need it in a specific folder? Pass the path: `npx @getsitelift/nextjs-blog init src/app`._ ### Built-in Routes from the CLI When you use the `init` command, you get the following structure out of the box: | Path | Purpose | | --- | --- | | /blog | The main archive displaying all your published articles. | | /blog/\[slug\] | The dedicated article page, complete with server-side rendering, JSON-LD schema injection, and metadata tags for optimal SEO. | | /blog/sitemap.xml | An auto-updating sitemap to keep search engines informed. | | /compare | The comparisons hub: every published "Brand vs X" and "X alternatives" page grouped by competitor, with CollectionPage JSON-LD. | | /compare/\[slug\] | A single comparison page with canonical and Open Graph tags and the JSON-LD generated by SiteLift. | | /compare/sitemap.xml | Sitemap for the hub and every published comparison page. Submit it alongside `/blog/sitemap.xml`. | `/compare` is the default prefix. If you chose another one during `init`, the folder and the routes use that name instead. Set `NEXT_PUBLIC_SITE_URL`to your site's origin so canonical URLs, JSON-LD and sitemaps are absolute, and optionally `SITELIFT_BRAND_NAME` for the hub heading. ### Post-Scaffold Checklist Verify Installation Make sure `@getsitelift/nextjs-blog` is in your `package.json`. Environment Variable Double-check that `SITELIFT_BLOG_API_KEY` is present in your `.env.local`. Image Domains Allow external images by updating your `next.config.ts` (or `next.config.js`): next.config.ts ```typescript import type { NextConfig } from "next"; const nextConfig: NextConfig = { images: { remotePatterns: [{ protocol: "https", hostname: "*" }], }, }; export default nextConfig; ``` **Start Developing:** Run `npm run dev` and navigate to `/blog` to see your articles in action! ## Manual Integration If you prefer to build the pages yourself, it's just as simple. Instantiate the `BlogClient` in a utility file and fetch data directly in your Server Components. ### 1\. Create the Client lib/sitelift.ts ```typescript import { BlogClient } from "@getsitelift/nextjs-blog"; export const siteLiftBlog = new BlogClient({ apiKey: process.env.SITELIFT_BLOG_API_KEY, revalidate: 86400, // Caches responses for 24 hours }); ``` ### 2\. List Articles app/blog/page.tsx ```tsx import { siteLiftBlog } from "@/lib/sitelift"; import Link from "next/link"; export default async function BlogArchive() { const articles = await siteLiftBlog.listArticles(); return (

Our Latest Articles

{articles.map((article) => (

{article.title}

))}
); } ``` ### 3\. Render a Single Article app/blog/\[slug\]/page.tsx ```tsx import { siteLiftBlog } from "@/lib/sitelift"; import { notFound } from "next/navigation"; export default async function ArticleView({ params }: { params: Promise<{ slug: string }> }) { const { slug } = await params; const article = await siteLiftBlog.getArticleBySlug(slug); if (!article) return notFound(); return (
{/* Article content includes Title and Featured Image */}
{/* Display Tags */} {article.tags &&

Tags: {article.tags.join(", ")}

}
); } ``` ## Data Caching & Next.js ISR This package is designed to work harmoniously with Next.js Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR). #### Default Caching The blog starter defaults to `revalidate: 86400` (24 hours). The comparison starter uses 1 hour, since those pages are published manually from the dashboard. #### Cache Invalidation Next.js serves its cached version until the revalidation window expires. This applies to new articles and to edits saved in the SiteLift editor after publishing. Every fetch is tagged, so `revalidateTag('sitelift-comparisons')`, `revalidateTag('sitelift-articles')` or `revalidateTag('sitelift')` refreshes content on demand. #### Always Fresh Data Want real-time data? Pass `revalidate: false` to the `BlogClient` options to trigger a `cache: 'no-store'` behavior. List calls return metadata only (no article bodies), so a hub of hundreds of posts stays small enough for the Next.js data cache. The delivery API allows 100 requests per minute per token; if a large build trips it, the client waits for `Retry-After` and retries (3 attempts by default, configurable with the `retries` and `retryDelayMs` options). ## BlogClient API Reference ### Available Methods | Method | Returns | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | listArticles() | Promise | Retrieves a paginated list of published articles. | | getAllArticles() | Promise | Automatically paginates and returns all published articles. | | getArticleBySlug(slug) | Promise | Retrieves the complete content and metadata for a specific article slug. | | getArticleById(id) | Promise | Retrieves the complete content and metadata for a specific article by its UUID. | | getArticleBySlugAndMarkPublished(slug) | Promise | Retrieves an article by slug and simultaneously marks its status as published. | | getSitemapEntries() | Promise | Returns lightweight data perfect for building `sitemap.xml`. | | listComparisons() | Promise | Every published comparison page plus the `comparePath` prefix set in the dashboard. | | getComparisonBySlug(slug) | Promise | Full content of one comparison page, or `null` when it is unpublished or unknown. | | getComparePath() | Promise | The comparison URL prefix set in the dashboard (default `compare`). | | getComparisonSitemapEntries() | Promise | Slugs and update times of every published comparison page. | ### Available Article Fields When you fetch an article, you have access to a rich set of data: titlesluglanguagetagsstatuscontentHtmlcontentMarkdownfeaturedImageUrlimagesseoMetaschemaMarkupcreatedAtupdatedAt ### Available Comparison Fields A comparison page carries the same content fields as an article plus the competitor it covers. `kind` is `"vs"` or `"alternatives"`, `competitor` holds the name and domain, `contentHtml` starts with the H1 and featured image and ends with a link to the hub, `comparisonData` is the structured verdict, tables, alternatives and FAQ, and `verifiedAt` is when the competitor facts were last verified (`null` while unverified). kindtitleslugcompetitorcontentHtmlcontentMarkdownfeaturedImageUrlseoMetaschemaMarkupcomparisonDataverifiedAtpublishedAtupdatedAt ### Building Your Own Hub The scaffolded hub is a starting point. To build your own, group the pages by competitor with `groupComparisons` (the "vs" page comes first) and add the `CollectionPage` JSON-LD with `comparisonHubJsonLd`. Links use the`comparePath` returned by the client so they always match the prefix in your dashboard. app/compare/page.tsx ```tsx import { groupComparisons, comparisonHubJsonLd, serializeJsonLd } from "@getsitelift/nextjs-blog"; import { siteLiftBlog } from "@/lib/sitelift"; export default async function Hub() { const { comparePath, data } = await siteLiftBlog.listComparisons(); const groups = groupComparisons(data); // one entry per competitor, vs page first const jsonLd = comparisonHubJsonLd({ siteUrl: "https://your-domain.com", comparePath, brandName: "Acme", pages: data, }); return (
{jsonLd && (
